The 1853Brick Walker Tavern and Rustic Barn, is a historic crossroad gathering place turned into the most unique wedding venue, special event center, and hotel. This beautiful venue is located at the corner of US Hwy 12 and M-50 (Monroe Pike) what is historically known as ‘Cambridge Junction’, in the heart of the beautiful Irish Hills. This corner is also home to the more renown and documented 1830’s “Walker Tavern Historic Site”. Now home to the original frame built Walker Tavern, which is currently a Michigan State Park and museum.
The ‘Brick Walker Tavern’ is owned and operated by Tom Lee, a private individual and 12th owner. Tom saw the need to once again make this a gathering place to create lasting memories and allow patrons to enjoy the beauty of the area. Tom, and a small handful of other talented craftsmen, over a period of 7 years, diligently spent their days, putting their skills together and bringing new life to the over 163 year old building and barn, which were on the verge of being lost forever. Thanks to some real ingenuity and popular internet sites for ease of acquiring materials and unique items utilized during the rejuvenation. The beautification process is a work in progress with more amenities being created and resurrected as time goes on. Our latest addition is our outdoor ceremony area, the 'Irish Bell' gable, which is also a great place to entertain during an event.
The 3-story brick facility now hosts an original grand ballroom on the entire 3rd floor, the second floor has 5 bedroom suites, each with private modern bathroom. The first floor has 4 parlor rooms for visiting with your guests, large eat-in warming kitchen for caterers' needs, separate dining area, and a covered patio with seating to serve guests outdoors. There is a large and lighted parking lot and easy unloading area for convenience. The Antique Barn was rebuilt using the original hand hewn framing, along with new hand hewn beams made by the Amish, and beautiful hardwood floors throughout. The barn has 2 levels with a large staircase, lots of room to entertain or dance, and even has indoor plumbing! This is a great place for a barn wedding! Enjoy the covered porch and gable for relaxing, dancing, live entertainment, ceremonies, or whatever suits your fancy!
